My Special Grandma

MY SPECIAL GRANDMA, (by Jonathan Lee as told to Joyce Mathias Lee) MS through the eyes of a 6 year old:

Hi, my name is Jonathan. I just turned 6 a couple weeks ago. I have a very special Grandma. My mommy told me Grandma has MS. All I know is she is very special.

I love it when she comes to visit me and my brother. I know she is special because when Grandma is with us, we get to park our van in special spaces really close to the stores. Grandma has a walker to help her walk. I put my toys in the little bag on her walker so my brother can’t find them.

Grandma even let me decorate her leg brace with stickers. My friends didn’t believe me when I told them I put stickers all over my Grandma’s leg. It was fun and she really liked it.

I’m the only one in my neighborhood who has a Grandma that has her very own scooter. My mommy says I can’t drive Grandma’s scooter until I get my drivers license.

I get a little sad when Grandma has to take her shots cause I know they hurt, but she doesn’t even cry. When everyone else is busy doing stuff, my Grandma always has time to sit with me and play a game of cards or teach me a new game like dominoes. I don’t know what MS is exactly, but I’m glad my Grandma is just the way she is….SPECIAL!!
