Daniel Stein, M.D.

 

A neurologist since 1991, Dr. Stein has served the Sarasota area since 1993. Early in his educational process, Dr. Stein changed his emphasis from research to earning his Medical Degree. Having the opportunity during college to work and study with an MS expert, Dr. Stein was inspired to care for patients with the chronic disease Multiple Sclerosis (MS). It is his desire to care for these patients that gives Dr. Stein a great appreciation for the mission and vision of the MS Centers of Florida Foundation and he embraces the opportunity to engage in clinical research and provide valuable assistance to patients living with MS.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Stein graduated from the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York with a BS in Neuroscience with Distinction in Research. Attending Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, Dr. Stein earned his medical degree in 1987, completed his Internal Medicine residency in 1988 at The Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio and his Neurology residency was completed in 1991 from The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Stein continued with his Fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland in 1993.

Dr. Stein served as the Clinical Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association for Sarasota, Florida from 1995 - 2000, is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Clinical Director of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Clinic in Sarasota, Florida. He is a Diplomat with the National Board of Medical Examiners, Diplomat with the National Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, has served since 1999 on the Quality Assurance Committee for the Medical Department at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and is a contributor to many medical publications.

Dr. Stein and his wife, Joyce, have 4 daughters, Taylor, Alexa, Madison and Juliet. He enjoys stock trading and dog training.
