Your Quality of Life
Two simple, but very important things that MS patients should focus on are keeping a positive attitude and enjoying life. Early treatment makes a huge difference, so all available options should be discussed with your doctor.
Set your daily priorities, which, in the long run, will help you use time to your best advantage. Some people with MS find it useful to keep a diary. This can be very helpful in recalling certain events at a later time.
Maintain an active life, mentally and physically. Crossword puzzles and similar mental challenges can be very beneficial. Although exercise and a healthy diet are good for everyone, (it certainly is the case for people with MS) always check with your doctor for a personal program just for you.
Exercise has been shown to be very helpful in improving the daily life of MS patients. This is particularly true for those experiencing spasticity or severe fatigue. Stretching exercises are excellent.
Many find it advantageous to meet with others through local MS groups. It can help emotionally to meet other MS patients and share your feelings. And, you will probably establish some new friendships.
Stay educated and informed about programs that may be of benefit. Learn relaxation techniques to help relieve stress. Stress is unhealthy for anyone.
Remember, your best quality of life will be obtained through appropriate and pro-active management.
